Earlier this summer, a low profile couple held a beautiful yet intimate wedding ceremony and celebration for their close friends and family at the majestic Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong. The white theme worked especially well against the colourful backdrop of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline for this sunset celebration.
Different shades of white flowers and pillar candles in glass containers adorned the aisle
A white ‘desserts’ table along with a ‘fine wine’ bar in the Foyer.Guests sat down to tables adorned with hundreds of flowers and candles and enjoyed a beautiful banquet at the ballroom of the Peninsula Hotel.
There is an element of beauty to alfresco weddings that simply cannot be re-created indoors, nature’s allure adding to the charm of an experience that’s meant to last a lifetime. An outdoor setting may not be the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to planning weddings in Hong Kong, but this city of bright lights does have its fair share of absolutely stunning alfresco venues.
Here are our three favorites:
The Lawn at the Upper House
Cosy. Elegant. Intimate. Blending shades of ivory into an all-natural palette, the Lawn at the Upper House is a hidden jewel of sophistication veiled behind high-reaching skyscrapers. With an open stairway illuminated by the soft glow of dimly lit lanterns, this little piece of perfection fit for sixty of your nearest and dearest promises to be a romantic atmosphere, ideal for a private ceremony. The Lawn comes with a minimum charge of $70,000+10% for a 2 hour booking or $80,000+10% for a 3 hour booking. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Hyatt Regency, Sha Tin
To have a large-scale but secluded wedding outdoors in Hong Kong may seem to be a hard balance to achieve, but this picturesque venue might just be the quintessential exception. A sure gem of a tranquil getaway, the Hyatt Regency in Shatin boasts beautiful a landscaped garden with lush greenery. Prices range from HKD42,800 and up for a maximum of 60 guests. What better place to enjoy the gorgeous canvas of warmth and vibrancy as the sun sets, and to let your heart soar as you dance the night away under starry skies?
The Garden Suite at The Peninsula
Boasting a luxurious panoramic view of Victoria Harbour, the Peninsula’s Garden Suite is the classic location for the perfect true love snapshot against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline. Featured as one of the most exclusive suites in the world, complete with a beautiful garden terrace, private elevator access and Peninsula’s legendary service, this venue of 2,722 sq ft can accommodate for a banquet of 48 pax or a standing cocktail party of 60 pax.

Summer is finally here in Hong Kong with its blue skies, abundant sunshine and the occasional massive rain storms. With better rates from five star hotels and your choice of vendors during this quiet period, its no wonder that couples are considering to get married in Hong Kong despite the hot and humid weather. Keep these tips in mind for the perfect summer wedding!
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your wedding as dehydration can lead to heat exhaustion and heat strokes. Hong Kong’s hot and humid weather can wreak havoc with the best-laid plans from your hair to the poor Groom, sweltering in a dark suit. So, make sure you have a couple of spare shirts for him and stay well hydrated so you don’t wilt, that goes for your flowers too!
Cakes will melt faster than you can say German Chocolate! In the sweltering heat of Hong Kong’s summer months, your cake will not only bake but also turn into a molten lava of a mess if the cake spends even minutes outdoors. Talk to the cake vendor to recommend the right icing and filling and make sure your cake stays in the refrigerated truck until the last possible minute!
Lather on the SPF! Last but not least, sweetheart necklines make for a pretty décolleté, not a pretty tan line. So lather on the SPF, talk to your makeup artist about what works with your skin and stay in the shade. Who likes sporting a sunburn on their wedding day?
We were honoured to be working alongside such talented vendors such as Steve Steinhardt, Living Cinema and Ellermann Flower Boutique. Of course, honoured as well to be included in Style Me Pretty’s blog for this beautiful wedding we planned last January in Hong Kong for a lovely couple.

From the Bride (as told to ‘Style Me Pretty’) … We met as students in medical school and dated for seven years before becoming engaged. Jason and I always wanted a simple and romantic wedding, with a classic elegance woven into every detail. We knew that our day would include elements of us as a couple and as individuals. We both enjoy travel and are partial to locations near the ocean. The Hong Kong Country Club’s ocean view provided the perfect backdrop for our dream wedding. Inside the property, it is a peaceful atmosphere that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It was the perfect location for us to celebrate with our family and friends.
We loved the way Steve portrayed us during our engagement session in Bali and in Vermont. It was, therefore, no surprise that we invited him to capture our Hong Kong wedding as well. Our wedding incorporated traditional Chinese customs, a tea ceremony in the morning, with a western-style ceremony and banquet at night. It was the perfect Hong Kong wedding, blending culture, elegance, and most importantly, our two lives together.

An exclusive members-only club in Hong Kong was the perfect setting for the wedding of this stylish Eurasian couple. They met as childhood school mates and re-connected years later. Surrounded by loving friends and family, they wed overlooking the South China Sea this past Spring.
Post-ceremony, guests enjoyed a festive cocktail hour followed by an informal buffet. Speciality bartenders, delicious desserts and great music kept the party going until late!
